I just cannot get it. I know some niches might prove lucrative, but why do people go to them if they really don't have anything in common with the subject? Why cannot they just go into something they know and are good at? What do you think?

It's simple. To make money. Well-paid niches offer a bigger payout. It's no brainer there.

Indeed, if people think they can make a lot of money out of something - then they are going to do it, regardless if they like the subject at hand or not.

Yup, it's because of the “well paid” alright. They often don't realize that when it isn't any good, you won't get well paid afterall, because there are hundreds of others doing it better than you.
