My database - every 6 hours via Cron job.
My files - every time I edit something. I always have the latest two versions of editted files on hand.

I used to back up more frequently (almost twice a week), but seeing how I've never had any trouble with hackers - God forbid! - or hosting problems, I kind of lied on my oars lately and do it rarely. I kind of do a back up monthly now, or even only when I remember to. I guess I should start being more cautious, just in case.

At one point in the past I had my system back up to 2 remote servers at different times overnight, every night. I'd then download a copy to my HDD before bed as well. Once I get things kickin' again i'll write a cron script for CPanel that does the same, however most likely on a several hour span.

accidents happen, & backuping the things is the only way to secure ourself. I will say a weekly basis of back-up will just be fine enough to keep all things in hand.
