IPB 2.0

Is it safe to use ipb 2.0.0 version? That was supposed to be the trial version but had an error in their script which results in no limitation. Becoz, I scared caught by the IPB Staff.

Well. I am using 1.3 for 2 projects already. I can't say for sure the version you are referring to is or not good. Maybe the problems have already been solved. did you find anything in the developer forums (at invisionboard.com) ?

1.3 was buggy and I had a copy of it. I didn't use it because I think 1.3 was slow and buggy.

No. I didn't went to invisionboard.com to search. But instead I went to google to search for results, some sites said it was illegal to use ipb 2.0.0 but some sites referred the other way round. So I was curious whether to use it or not.

Well .. I really don't know. I think the 1.3 version is the last one you could legally use for free. I read somewhere that every other upgraded version needs to have a paid license ..

1.3.1 Final is definately free, I think also 2.0.0 is free aswell, I have read places that it is, but I am not to sure about it. But your best bet is to just use 1.3.1 Final to be sure that it is free and you cannot get sued or anything

However, it is illegal is to distribute them.

It is stated that IPB software above 2.0.1 is considered paid software and is illegal to have a copy unless you purchase a liscense. 
IPS checks boards by adding ?ipscheck=1 at the end of the address and if you see --, then it is a trial, #,# would mean its registered, and other messages would probably mean its illegal.

I think a similar thing happens to vBulletin. As long as both cost some serious money I kinda understand the urge to keep illegal copies at minimum.
