Advertising problemes

The past years, i have been making sites but i never know the right way of advertising the site.

I currently running a Gaming site/development site and was wondering what would be the best way of advertising the site?

Here's one way: First figure out who your target audience is and then spend time around other web sites where your target audience would be. You'd probably have to sit down and think over it for a while, maybe even jotting them down on paper over a some time.

You can probably join/visit sites with people who would be interested in this (without really going to competing sites).

Also, if you use signatures to link back to your site you could make it a little focused/descriptive if possible. In a few words after your site name, maybe 4 or 5, mention something that your site provides that would peak the interest of your target audience.

At the same time, you'll need some great content to keep people coming back.

The only free way to advertise your site is by going to social sites like Myspace, Facebook, and others like it. Build up buddies with the same interest as yours. Be active and try to introduce the site to them little by little.

I haven't really tried sociale media marketing myself yet - but hope to go there soon. But another free way for to advertise your site would be to set up a facebook fan page.

I guess you can join twitter and facebook or do some SEO to your site
